Our Story

Get Ready. We’re about to design your favorite space.

I’m Leah, the founder and principal designer of Gray Oak Studio. In 2017, I pivoted my career, took a major leap and established Gray Oak Studio. Almost 7 years later, I’m so happy, so inspired, and so busy! With each completed project, I affirm my belief that home should be your FAVORITE place. Home is where you bring your newborn baby, carve your Thanksgiving turkey, and can’t wait to get back even after the best vacation. It’s the place where you live out your most intimate, joyful and important moments. So, yeah, it should be your favorite. If you’re not quite there yet, I’m so glad you found us. With a little guidance, expertise and creative vision, we will get you there.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

We believe your home should be beautiful, functional and unique - a true reflection of your style and the way your family lives. Not only can we create this space for you, but we’ll do it in a way that is stress-free and enjoyable. We know your time is valuable. The endless decisions involved in decorating, renovating, and building a home can be truly daunting, not to mention crazy time consuming. We relieve the overwhelming process and make it easy. Even fun. With our experience and skill, we efficiently guide those difficult decisions, coordinate all the moving parts and handle every last detail. Your hardest job will be to decide which side of the new sofa to sit on for family movie night…they’re both really comfortable…hmmm…

OUR STYLE

Our aesthetic can best be described as Modern Casual, which means using modern, clean furnishings without skimping on the comfy cozy factor, keeping it light and bright, and tapping into that not-trying-too-hard cool that everyone is after. It’s the beautiful, easy style that works perfectly for today’s busy family. It’s fundamental to our philosophy that we design practical, livable spaces - we create gorgeous homes where real people sleep and eat and watch TV. And, sometimes, real little kids forget to take off muddy boots or accidentally color outside the lines and onto the coffee table. I’m a mom of 3, I get it. These everyday uses are considered with each stylistic choice - it’s gotta be gorgeous and it’s gotta be practical.

OUR SERVICE AREA

Based in Lynnfield, Massachusetts, we welcome projects throughout the Boston area and the North Shore.

LEAH | FOUNDER & PRINCIPAL DESIGNER

Leah has a truly creative spirit. She won a photography award from The Boston Globe and wrote a successful blog before blogging was a thing. All the while she was renovating, designing and DIYing whatever home she lived in, from a Brooklyn brownstone to a 50’s ranch in the Boston suburbs. Professionally, she earned her law degree and practiced as a criminal defense attorney for nearly a decade before pivoting to interior design. She loves helping clients discover their personal style, working with green (natural) materials whenever possible (she also happens to love the color green), and finding those unicorn pieces that make the project, and the client, truly happy. Most of all, she loves helping clients adore their home - design is about creating beautiful spaces, but it’s just as much about creating spaces that makes life easier and happier for the people who live there.
